At three years of age, Elizabeth was given a 32nd size
violin because she kept pestering her older siblings to play theirs. Seventeen years later she is studying with Amy Schwartz Moretti, Concertmaster of the Oregon Symphony. She is starting her second year of a two year Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) Long-Term Teacher's Training Program towards certification in violin teaching, Elizabeth has a studio of twelve violin students, coaches young people in preparation for speech competitions and holds conferences for young
ladies ages 12-16, enouraging them to live purposeful lives (beneaththesurfacegirl.com).
 
Eric has been exposed to music since before he was born. He
began formal training at the age of six. He currently studies violin with Cindy Petty. During the 2005-2006 season, Eric was honored to be the principle second violinist of the Oregon Pro Arte Youth Chamber Orchestra. In addition to music, Eric is keenly interested in computers, web design, photography, and videography.
 
 

Age 16, has been studying the cello nine years with retired Oregon Symphony cellist, Naomi Blumberg. His future plans include teaching privately and coaching chamber music. Joshua’s other interests are participating in a speech club, political action and playing football with his friends.

Joshua entered an Expository Speech which compared the lives of J.S. Bach and Handel in a national competition. He placed second, third and fourth in Oregon, Washington and California. Josh flew with his teammates to Virginia where he placed 39th in the nation in the Biblical Apologetics category.

 

At 19, David is pursuing a college degree via disstance learning and local apprenticehips and internships. He is in year two of a two year Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) Long-Term Teacher's Training Program towards certification in violin and viola teaching.

David has been studying viola for nine years. His private teacher is Joel Belgique, Principle Violist of the Oregon Symphony. He has had
the opportunity to participate in a number of different orchestras and
ensembles including the Portland Youth Conservatory Orchestra,
MasterWorks Festival Orchestra, and several summers at the Britt Chamber Music Camp. David is a member of the Oregon Pro Arte Youth Chamber Orchestra.

Aside from music,
David is an avid student of law, politics and communications as well as
the social sciences.

 
At age 12, Justin is the youngest member of the Knopp family and Highstrung!. For several years Justin has assisted the quartet by being the quartet's roadie and mascot. However, Justin is now officially a full fledged musician in his own right. With a dedication to both the violin and piano Justin's musical abilities are allowing Highstrung! to form new musical configurations including piano quintets. Justin is a very motivated, focused and diligent.. These qualities are evident in his musical endeavors as well as his school work and play.
 

Justin's most enjoyable school subjects are history, math and reading. During his free time, Justin has fun creating things with Legos™, playing outside and playing basketball and football with his brothers.

In addition to Justin's solo work and participation in Highstrung!, Justin is also a member of the Oregon Pro Arte Youth Chamber Orchestra's youngest group - Pro Arte Conservatory Strings. Justin studies violin with Martha Shackford and piano with Mrs. Shirley Brendlinger.
