England Concert
Tour: Our England Concert tour has been a fabulous
time for all of us. Performing concerts from Bremerton and
Gig Harbor to Portland and back again has not only allowed
us to raise funds to make it possible for us to travel to
MasterWorks Europe for further training, it's also given us
a great opportunity to meet new people and to make friends.
We will look back on summer 2005 with great joy for the rest
of our lives. Thanks everyone! The Knopp famly. |

Bremerton, Washington. It's doubtful any musicians
ever played for a more encouraging audience. We made many
friends and hope to be invited again!
We are especially grateful to Myrtle and Joan Dingfield who

January -
We played for Jack Gabel's CD release event: - "Spring
Quartet and selected works for strings"
Jack Gable, a Portland composer amd artist requested that
we perform his amazing work, "That Old Song and Dance".
We enjoyed playing event and are very thankful to Mr. Gable
for the opportunity.
The following is quoted from North
Pacific Music:
"Last but not least -- Highstrung performs Gabel's quartet,
That Old Song and Dance from the new CD. Highstrung is a remarkable
string quartet. Coached by Cindy H. Petty, conductor of the
Oregon Pro Arte Youth Chamber Orchestra, of which Highstrung
are all members: Elizabeth Knopp, age 19; Eric Knopp, age
12; David Knopp, age 17; Joshua Knopp, age 14 are the Highstrung
String Quartet; and they are phenomenal! Their irresistibly
youthful enthusiasm gives way to an exceptionally empathetic
ensemble -- mature beyond its years -- an element surely attributable
to their sibling status, not to mention their musical dedication.
Bravery will be on exhibit as well when they tackle Gabel's
complex score -- a work loaded with dicey manipulations of
several ancient songs and dances and held together with edgy
modernist compositional devices and idiomatic string scoring
-- not to be missed...Highstrung!'s bravery at the
very least." |

December
2004: Charbonneau Chorale Christmas Performance - Pat Olsen,
Director
Highsrung! had a wonderful time giving two performances
with The "Charbonneau" Chorale. Guests arrived to
the quartet playing a prelude of Christmas music. The choir
gave a wonderful performance accompanied by the Knopp’s,
along with the Oregon Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra oboist, Rachel
Thoroughman.
After the concerts, Aletha received a delightful note which
reads in part, "The Chorale was impressed with your children.
I told them for weeks that they were going to be amazed. Your
kids did not let me down. And they followed so well... no
worries in my mind at all. It was wonderful to feel so confident
that I didn't have to be concerned. Great job! Pat Olsen" |
